Zimbabwe and Iran will conduct a mid-term review of their joint commission, with the two sides expected to evaluate ongoing cooperation and set out fresh priorities aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

This is as reported by ZBC, a partner of TV BRICS.

The plan was confirmed by Iran’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Amirhossein Hosseini, following his meeting with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga in Harare.

According to Mr Hosseini, the upcoming session in Tehran will examine progress in areas already on the bilateral agenda, including pharmaceutical production and broader collaboration in health-related initiatives.

He noted that both delegations intend to introduce new proposals, among them the expansion of health tourism, which, he said, received positive feedback during the meeting in Harare.

Diplomatic engagement between Zimbabwe and Iran continues to be anchored in cooperation across energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, research, and technology.

Mr Hosseini also highlighted the role of recent high-level political exchanges in shaping the direction of future collaboration.

He said discussions in Harare touched on earlier visits by senior officials from both countries, adding that these interactions have “created a clear path for advancing bilateral relations in a constructive manner”.

Zimbabwe is expected to build on the opportunities identified during the Iran–Africa Economic Cooperation Conference held earlier this year, during which Ms Chiwenga participated in sectoral discussions.

The upcoming midterm review aims to consolidate existing areas of cooperation and identify additional sectors where coordinated efforts could support economic development for both nations.
