Fire guts Mopol 13 office complex in Makurdi

The police command in Benue State said fire gutted the Mobile Police 13 (Mopol 13) Unit office complex of the Nigeria Police Force in Makurdi on Sunday.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed the incident by telephone to journalists.
Ms Udeme said the fire destroyed the office complex but refused to comment on the condition of the armoury.
She added that no casualties were recorded.
The blaze affected several offices, including the armoury section.
A witness at the scene, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the fire started in one of the offices around 10 a.m.
“I was on morning duty and saw smoke coming from the squadron commander’s office. Soon after, heavy flames erupted, and everything got burned. I called my boss, who contacted the fire service, but the building was already engulfed,” the source said.
The office complex was cordoned by police, preventing media and public access to the scene.
