Two new measles cases linked to overseas travel have been confirmed in Auckland, three weeks after New Zealand declared a previous outbreak.

In a statement on Tuesday, Health New Zealand said the cases involve members of the same household and are connected to international travel.

Locations of interest include Singapore Airlines flight SQ281, which arrived in Auckland on February 17, Auckland International Airport, and the emergency department waiting room at Waitakere Hospital.

Public health officials are tracing close contacts, particularly passengers who were seated near the infected individuals on the flight.

Authorities have urged anyone experiencing measles-like symptoms to contact healthcare providers by phone before visiting in person to help prevent further spread.

New Zealand’s previous measles outbreak, which began in September 2025, was declared over earlier this month.

However, health officials warned that the country remains vulnerable due to low immunisation rates and ongoing international travel.
