An area court in Jos on Monday sentenced a teenager, Felix Obed, to 18 months’ imprisonment for trespass and the theft of a door valued at N10,000.

The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced Mr Obed, aged 19, after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Ms Pati, who gave the convict a fine option of N30,000 for stealing, also sentenced him to six months for trespass with a fine option of N20,000.

She said that the two jail terms should run concurrently.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘A’ Division Police Station on February 28 by the complainant, George Zugumnan.

Mr Ijuptil said that Mr Obed trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole his door, valued at N10,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, Mr Obed confessed to having committed the offence.

He said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria, 2017.
