Governor Mutfwang tells Muslims to promote peace, unity

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on Muslims in Plateau and across Nigeria to promote peaceful coexistence and unity at all times.
Mr Mutfwang made the call in a message on Friday commemorating the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Plateau.
Mr Mutfwang, who acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the Muslim community to peaceful coexistence in Plateau and Nigeria, described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant milestone that reinforces faith, sacrifice and submission to the will of God.
The governor, who commended Muslims for the devotion, discipline and sacrifices exhibited throughout the holy month of Ramadan, urged them to sustain the spirit of love and understanding at all times.
“I heartily rejoice with the Muslim Ummah on this special occasion, an occasion which reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice and total submission to the will of the Almighty.
“As you celebrate, I encourage you to reflect on the values of love, charity and selflessness; and to work collectively towards building a more united, peaceful and prosperous Plateau and Nigeria.
“I join millions of well-wishers across the world in congratulating the Muslim Ummah in Plateau, Nigeria and beyond on this joyous occasion. I appeal that we sustain the values of peace, tolerance and unity; these virtues define the essence of Ramadan,” he said.
Mr Mutfwang particularly called on Muslims to use the occasion to pray for divine guidance and wisdom for leaders at all levels, to deliver responsive, people-oriented governance.
The governor, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, assured the citizens of continued efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property, improved welfare and promote sustainable development at all levels.
Mr Mutfwang, however, urged citizens of the state, regardless of religion or tribe, to be united, peaceful and law-abiding.
The governor further called on the residents to support government policies, insisting that the policies and programmes are aimed at creating a conducive environment for economic prosperity and sustainable development.
