Ikorodu City confident of continental ticket after Kano Pillars defeat: Technical Adviser

Bright Ozadegbe, technical adviser of Ikorodu City FC, has expressed optimism that the club is on course to secure a continental ticket at the end of the season.
Mr Ozadegbe said this on Monday in an interview following his side’s 3-0 victory over Kano Pillars in a Matchday 34 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Ikorodu City delivered a dominant performance on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, defeating the visitors convincingly.
Despite the win, Mr Ozadegbe said the team would remain focused, noting that the task was not yet complete.
“It is good to record such a win, but the job is not done yet. We still have a couple of matches to play. This season is different from last season, and so are our objectives. We will continue to push until the final game.
“If the league ended today, we would have achieved our target, but with four matches remaining, we want to maintain our position. After our last game against Rangers, we will know where we stand,” he said.
The coach also acknowledged Kano Pillars as a strong side despite their current struggles.
“Kano Pillars are fighting to avoid relegation. They are a big club and deserve respect,” he said.
Ikorodu City took the lead in the 29th minute through Joseph Arumala, who converted a pass from Abayomi Ayodeji.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Tosin Oyedokun scored from close range after an assist by substitute Tomiwa Awojobi.
Ayodeji sealed the victory in the 88th minute, finishing off a pass from Folarin Temitope.
The victory strengthens Ikorodu City’s chances of securing continental football, while Kano Pillars continue to battle against relegation.
