NIPR commends Nigeria’s rail transformation

Members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations have commended the rapid transformation of the Nigerian Railway Corporation under the leadership of Kayode Opeifa.
NRC’s spokesman, Callistus Unyimadu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The commendation was given aboard an Abuja-Kaduna train conveying members to the institute’s annual general meeting in Kaduna.
Many members from different state chapters travelled together, using the rail service as a safer and more convenient alternative.
Mr Unyimadu noted that the train, largely filled with members, provided an opportunity for networking, reunion, and professional engagement among participants.
“Some members of NIPR described the service of NRC staff as impressive, noting that improved management had enhanced service delivery.
“They urged the federal government to sustain investment in rail infrastructure, saying the sector has strong potential for economic growth.
“They said railway development is capital-intensive but capable of yielding quick returns if properly funded and managed,” the NRC spokesperson quoted the NIPR members saying.
A traditional ruler, Jacob Adetayo Haastrup, praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Mr Opeifa and his management team to oversee NRC.
“The management had demonstrated the corporation’s capacity to drive national development within a short period,” Mr Haastrup said.
The Lagos NIPR chairman, Samuel Ayetutu, buttressed that members opted for rail transport to support ongoing reforms and avoid road insecurity.
He called for expanding rail networks nationwide to improve mobility and provide commuters with alternatives.
The conference, scheduled to end on April 24 in Kaduna, is expected to prepare participants for a global public relations conference in Nigeria later in the year.
