Seven people killed, dozens injured in Egypt’s train collision

The Egyptian National Railways Authority said a train travelling from Giza to Fayum crashed into the rear of another train heading from Cairo to Aswan, killing seven people and injuring dozens.
The collision happened on Sunday in Al-Ayyat when the Aswan-bound train made an unscheduled stop.

Authorities said prosecutors were at the crash site and in hospitals where the wounded were taken to.
“Train services in the area were disrupted, and prosecutors began an investigation to determine the cause of the crash,” authorities said.
In a statement, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, said he was closely monitoring the incident’s aftermath, ordering authorities to provide adequate medical care for the wounded.
He also ordered a swift investigation, noting that anyone found liable would be prosecuted.
