Lagos CP visits military formations, reaffirms inter-agency collaboration
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, has paid courtesy visits to key military formations in the state, reaffirming the need for strengthened inter-agency collaboration to enhance security.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lagos.
She said that the visits, which took place on Wednesday, covered the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the 651 Base Service Group, and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft in Apapa.
At the 9 Brigade, located at Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, the police commissioner was received by the commander, Ayokunle Owolabi.
“Discussions focused on strengthening existing collaboration in internal security operations and sustaining joint efforts to ensure the safety of residents.
“During his visit to the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, the CP and the Commanding Officer, M. A. Imam, deliberated on enhancing professionalism, intelligence sharing and operational cooperation between both agencies.”
At the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft in Apapa, Mr Tijani was received by the commander, Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu.
“Both parties discussed strategies to improve collaboration in securing the state’s waterways and the need for structured operational alignment, especially in multi-agency operations,” she said.
Ms Adebisi said the commissioner emphasised that effective security management in a complex and strategic state like Lagos requires seamless collaboration among all security and law enforcement agencies.
“CP Tijani emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces must continue to work in unity, guided by mutual respect and a shared commitment to protecting lives, property and critical national assets.
“He commended the consistent support and cooperation the Lagos State Police Command receives from military formations.
“CP noted that such synergy is vital in combating crime, maintaining law and order, and addressing emerging security threats,” the spokesperson said.
She said the CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to working with other security agencies to sustain peace, enhance public safety, and create a secure environment conducive to the state’s socio-economic growth.
