Fubara charges corps members to maintain integrity during election duties

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has charged corps members to maintain integrity and credibility while undertaking election duties.
Mr Fubara made the call on Tuesday in Nonwa-Gbam at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members.
Represented by Mrs Rachel Ayasuk-Dandy, the director of administration, Office of the Secretary, Rivers Government, Mr Fubara urged the corps members to discharge election duties with a good conscience and uprightness.
“As corps members, your services will be required as the 2027 election draws closer. It is your duty to be upright, fearless and of good conscience.
“Nigerians and the management of the National Youth Service Corps expect you to live up to expectations. Do not let us down,” he said
The governor further told the youths to effectively integrate themselves into their host communities by sharing their values, visions, and aspirations.
According to him, such a step will make them relevant and outstanding during their service year.
Mr Fubara assured the corps members of adequate welfare, safety and security during their stay in Rivers.
Earlier, Mr Moses Oleghe, the NYSC coordinator in Rivers, commended corps members for their patriotic spirit and support of national unity and development.
Mr Oleghe said their active participation in camp activities and programmes had enabled them to achieve a successful orientation course.
“See the service year as an opportunity to discover your true purpose in life, acquire relevant skills for self-reliance instead of depending on elusive white-collar jobs,” he said.
The coordinator thanked the Rivers State government for its support of the scheme, saying, “We appreciate the recent purchase of mattresses by the state government”
Mr Oleghe said that a total of 3,596 corps members, comprising 1,297 males and 2,299 females, successfully completed the three-week orientation exercise.
