Tinubu’s daughter threatens protest over disputed Lagos APC primaries, flays Justice, Mandate groups disparity
President Bola Tinubu’s daughter and Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has demanded the scrapping of the Justice Forum and the Mandate Group following the outcome of the All Progressives Congress primary elections in Lagos State.
Mrs Tinubu-Ojo, who stated this during the weekly meeting of market leaders and stakeholders at her office in Alausa, on Wednesday, also threatened a protest over the outcome of the exercise.
She stated, “We have to cry out now. Let APC cancel Justice Forum and Mandate Group. We are one family. We are for APC. Now, they are using Justice Forum and Mandate because our candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, belongs to the Justice Forum. Everyone is now joining the Justice Forum because they believe that is where the incoming governor belongs. Are we not Lagosians? We are all APC.
“We are ready to protest because of Seye Oladejo of Mushin Federal Constituency 02, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo of Agege 2 constituency, Olotu Ojo of Ojokoro constituency, because we know they won this election.”
Mrs Tinubu-Ojo warned that unresolved grievances from the primaries could threaten stability in the ruling APC, urging the party to intervene to restore confidence among stakeholders.
“Even when he (Hamzat) becomes governor, he will not govern only APC members; he has to balance it. Everyone must be carried along. If you are a leader, you are leading both your friends and foes.
“I can’t understand members of Mandate Group dumping Mandate and joining Justice Forum. And if Mandate won the election, they would try to manipulate and put Justice Forum members there. It is saddening. It is a way of telling us that hard work does not pay in politics. Something must be done about it,” she added.
She insisted that traders were deserving of greater recognition and political inclusion in return for their consistent support over the years.
Mrs Tinubu-Ojo’s outburst followed the party’s list of candidates after itd House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
From the list signed by the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, 24 candidates won the House of Representatives tickets while 40 candidates secured the party’s tickets for the state’s assembly.
Mrs Tinubu-Ojo alleged that the results released for Mushin Federal Constituency 2, Agege Constituency 2 and Ojokoro constituencies, were manipulated.
