Ogun farmer arrested over alleged defilement of 12-year-old girl

Officials of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, have handed over a 42-year-old farmer, Ganiu Agbajo, to the police, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl on his farm in the Ipokia Local Government Area.

The state Commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement on Thursday, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, said the suspect was nabbed after concerned members of the community reported the case to the agency on Monday.

Mr Ganzallo said, “On September 7, 2026, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling of the agency received this information from the concerned members of the community. According to an eye witness, the 12-year-old girl (name withheld), cried home on that faithful day and the mother questioned on what transpire and she said she was raped by a man. Expectedly, the furious mother shouted for help and the community reported to the agency as appropriate.

“Subsequently, the 42-years-old male suspect Ganiu Agbajo was arrested at Hassan Compound, Igbokulu, Ita-Egbe, Ipokia, his residence. In the course of preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime. In his confession, he said, he committed the atrocious act on his farm at Ojugo, Ita-Egbe.

“The suspect and victim have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and appropriate legal action.”

Mr Ganzallo reaffirmed the agency’s continuous effort to rid the state of crime and encouraged residents to report unlawful and suspicious acts to the gency for appropriate action.
