The managing director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency, Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on ongoing township road projects across the state.

Mr Baba-Ahmed stated this during an inspection tour of road projects in Rigasa, Ungwan Romi, PAN Drive, Sokoto Road, Millennium City and Kabala Costain communities, where the state government is undertaking major infrastructure projects aimed at improving residents’ living conditions.

Speaking at the Makera Road project in Rigasa, the KADRA boss commended the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, for adhering to specifications and maintaining quality standards.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the next two months as stipulated in the contract.

Mr Baba-Ahmed, however, directed contractors handling various projects to accelerate work ahead of the heavy rains expected in August.

According to him, the Kaduna State government has paid all necessary compensation to affected property owners along the project corridor, removing obstacles that could delay completion.

“The contractor has been given two months to deliver this critical infrastructure to the good people of Rigasa,” he said.

On the quality of the work, Mr Baba-Ahmed noted that drainage and hydraulic structures were progressing satisfactorily.

“We are very satisfied with the quality of the job. The contractor is using precast concrete and has submitted laboratory test results, which meet our standards,” he added.

He appealed to residents to be patient with the temporary inconveniences associated with road construction and commended community leaders for supporting the project.

The managing director also inspected the dual carriageway and bridge project linking Kaduna North and Kaduna South LGAs through Aliyu Makama Road in Barnawa.

He said the project, inherited by the present administration at about 30 per cent completion, had recorded significant progress.

According to him, although no work had previously been carried out on the Kaduna North section of the bridge, the contractor has now launched 42 of the 56 required beams.

“The remaining beams will be launched within the next 10 days, and the road is expected to be opened to traffic before the end of August. We have given the contractor marching orders to complete the project and ease traffic congestion along the Ahmadu Bello Way corridor,” Mr Baba-Ahmed said.

He disclosed that Governor Uba Sani’s administration initiated 150 new road projects in addition to inherited ones, bringing the total road network under construction to 1,345 kilometres across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Mr Baba-Ahmed said many of the projects had been completed, while others were at various stages of completion.

The consultant for the Rigasa project, Usman Abdulkadir, said the contractor had consistently complied with project specifications.

“All impediments relating to property relocation have been cleared, and we are optimistic that the project will be delivered within the next two months,” he said.

The Dakachi of Rigasa, Abubakar Yahuza, described the road project as a major relief for residents, noting that it serves as a critical link to Mando, Kaduna Airport and other parts of the state.

He commended the state government for prioritising infrastructure development in the community.

The inspection tour highlights the Kaduna government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of projects while maintaining strict compliance with contract specifications.
