Unknown gunmen kill Nigerian man in UK

An 18-year-old Nigerian, Alex Ajanaku, was shot dead in Waltham forest, United Kingdom, on September 1 by unknown gunmen.
According to the UK police, the police received a phone call around 01:29 a.m., after the residents called that they heard gunshots in the area.
The police said their officers arrived at the location and found Alex with injuries, and was provided with some first aid treatment but he died on the scene before they could put him in an ambulance.
His next of kin has been informed about his death and a post-mortem examination was carried out on corpse to support investigation, the police said.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder, a police statement seen by Peoples Gazette said. The man has , however, been bailed, pending further investigation.
“We have a team of officers dedicated to finding those responsible and I would urge anyone who had information that could help the investigation to contact us immediately,” a police spokesman said.
He added, “We believe Alex had been at an unlicensed music event on the Beaumont Estate on the evening of Tuesday, 31 August. The majority of people had left the area by the time of the incident, but a small group remained and a were sitting on a bench when shots were fired.
“There is no place for gun crime on the streets of London and the Met is committed to removing firearms from the streets. We cannot do this alone and need the support of the community to share information and report concerns to help keep us all safe.”
The police enjoined anyone with information to afford them of it.
