Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Tuesday submitted the names of six commissioner nominees to the House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation as members of the state executive council.

The nomination is contained in a letter read by the speaker of the House of Assembly, Alfred Emberga, during plenary on Tuesday in Markudi.

The governor said the nominations were intended to strengthen the state executive council by filling existing vacancies and replacing outgoing members while bringing additional expertise and capacity into the administration.

The six nominees are Kuma Aii-Yenge, Roy Ashirga, Monday Angwa, Elizabeth Ogenyi, Solomon Iorpev and Nick Eworo.

The speaker stated that the governor made the nominations in the exercise of his constitutional powers and pursuant to Section 192 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.

According to him, Mr Alia requested the assembly to give the nominees prompt and favourable consideration in accordance with its constitutional responsibility.
