LekkiMassacre: Those attacking us don’t wish Nigeria good – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has condemned those calling for scrutiny to the role of its officers at the Lekki tollgate on October 20 as agents of destabilization who do not want any good for Nigeria.Â
Major Osoba Olaniyi of the Nigerian Army 81 Division who acts as the deputy director on public relations on Sunday denied the testimony of the Brigadier-General Ahmed Taiwo at the Lagos judicial panel who admitted that officers were forced to use live ammunition after they were attacked with stones.Â
Mr. Olaniyi stated that though live ammunition was taken to the Lekki tollgate as part of the “Table of equipment for internal security operations”, only minimum force was applied when officers confronted the protesters.Â
The statement failed to explain how blank ammunition resulted in the death of at least nine protesters as reported by Amnesty International and two as admitted by the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
