A fire outbreak has razed shops at Computer Village, the popular mobile and electronic market in Ikeja, Lagos.

The fire which destroyed goods and other property started on Monday morning.

The fire broke out from one of the shops in a shopping complex at Otigba Street, Computer Village, Ikeja.

When contacted, a spokesman for Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Yemi Sule, promised to get back to Peoples Gazette on the incident.

The spokesman for police command in Lagos, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the fire outbreak.

“There was a fire incident at 18, Otigba Street, Computer Village, Ikeja early hour of today. The fire engulfed a shopping complex,” said the police in a statement. “As soon as the report was received, firefighters were contacted, and they arrived immediately. Policemen were drafted there to protect the firefighters and others.”

The police command added that “the fire has been put out successfully,” stating that “no life was lost in the incident.”

“However, valuable property which estimates are not yet known were destroyed,” stated the police.
