The plateau governorship aspirant, John Sura, has pledged to focus on bandits and other criminals by prioritising security to engender peace and development if elected the governor.

Mr Sura stated this on Sunday in Abuja while submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat.

The retired one-star general, who decried the level of insecurity in Plateau, said under his watch that the economy, infrastructural development, empowerment and security would be given attention.

He added that Plateau needed leaders with character, capacity and ability to stand for the people, pointing out he possesses the leadership traits to restore peace in the state.

Mr Sura also mentioned that he could secure the people and make them return to their ancestral homes to continue farming and other activities.

The governorship aspirant promised to re-establish the Plateau private security outfit, codenamed ‘Operation Rainbow’, established during Governor Jonah Jang’s administration.

“We will look at its inadequacies and also see how we can restructure and redeploy it to assist the federal security forces,” said Mr Sura.
