Sunshine Stars’ strikers inexperienced: Coach

Emmanuel Deutsch, the head coach of Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, has blamed his side’s 0-1 loss to Kano Pillars on his strikers’ inexperience.
Sunshine Stars lost to Kano Pillars in their rescheduled matchday 25 fixture in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“Kano Pillars fought harder for a win because of their low position on the league’s table. That was obvious. They fought well to win the game. We played well too, but it was unfortunate that we lost to them. It was all due to my attackers’ lack of experience. This really affected our game,” the coach explained.
He added, “We could have equalised to draw the game at least, but my players lost concentration in the first half. They did show some good character in the second half after we made some changes and took possession of the game.”
On his part, Ibrahim Musa, the coach of Kano Pillars, said it was not easy for his team, which used to be among the best teams in the league.
“It wasn’t an easy game for us and Sunshine Stars are a good team. But we are coming up the table gradually because we are down on the table in a position we are not used to,” he said.
Musa, however, described as unfortunate they are fighting against being among those that can go on relegation.
“But we will continue to fight harder so that we will move away from the relegation zone and remain in the league,” he said.
The coach said they would go on to work hard to win all their remaining games in the league.
“We will fight to win all our remaining matches both home and away because since Kano Pillars gained promotion to NPFL six years ago, we haven’t reached the level of languishing in the relegation zone,” he noted.
