Abducted corps member’s sister begs Nigerians to support her rescue

A woman, Yemisi Olawole, has appealed to Nigerians for support over her younger sister, Busayo Olawole, seized by kidnappers alongside others travelling to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps.

Ms Olawole, who cried out on social media on Tuesday, said her younger is a graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Oyo State,  adding she was kidnapped on October 1.

“My sister, Busayo Olawole, was kidnapped on October 1st on her way to NYSC camp. Please, we need your help, your support to bring her home safe. A little amount of money has been gathered but we still need your support,” she stated.

Ms Olawole, who said her younger sister is a registered nurse, noted that she was suffering from chronic ulcer.

She explained that part of the N10 million requested by her abductors had been raised, appealing to Nigerians for support in any possible ways.

“She is a chronic ulcer patient and can’t bear to be in that place for a very long time. The kidnappers called and said she was already weak and could not work again. Please, we need your help. We need prayers. We meed money. 

“They are demanding N10 million. We have raised some but we still need money. She is a registered nurse and graduated last year. God will bless you. Nigeria will not happen to you,” Ms Olawole added.

The development trailed the abduction of 20 prospective corps members on their way to NYSC camp on Thursday.

The corps members, who departed Ibadan,  Oyo State, on Thursday were heading to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states when gunmen seized them.

The ambush happened around Umonoha Community along Owerri-Onitsha Road in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident occurred weeks after 15 corps members returning from NYSC permanent Orientation camp in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa State were kidnapped in Kogi State.

Meanwhile, the Imo State police command said it had deployed tactical teams, alongside other security agencies, to rescue the victims and arrest suspected abductors.

It noted that it the hideouts of the abductors had been discovered, nothing that the criminals lined the way with IEDs.
