Senator representing Lagos-East and Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Mukhail Abiru, has called for unity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians as Christians celebrate Easter.

Mr Abiru made the call in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Enitan Olukotun, on Sunday in Lagos.

Mr Abiru, also the chairman, Southern Senators’ Forum, urged Nigerians not to lose hope amid daunting challenges.

He assured that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would reposition the country on the path of sustainable growth.

The senator called on both Christians and Muslims, and Nigerians of other faiths to continue to pray for Nigeria and join hands with the President as he championed far-reaching policy decisions that would ensure the well-being of Nigerians.

“I join our Christian brothers and sisters in Lagos East senatorial district and beyond, in celebrating the 2024 Easter, which symbolises the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we celebrate this solemn commemoration of the Lord Jesus Christ’s death and his glorious resurrection, we should live peacefully with all men as admonished in the holy scripture. The times are indeed tough. As a conscientious leader, I feel your pains amidst soaring prices of food and other essential commodities.

“I urge that we should show understanding with our President as his administration makes frantic efforts to reposition our nation on the path of sustainable growth and development. Happy Easter celebrations!,” Mr Abiru stated.

In a related development, the Southern Senators’ Forum, led by Mr Abiru, felicitated Nigerians on the celebration of Easter.

The forum, in a goodwill message, stated that Easter is a time of reflection, renewal, and rejoicing.

“In the spirit of this joyous occasion, let us embrace the values of unity, compassion, sacrifice and solidarity. Let us reach out to our fellow citizens with kindness, understanding, and empathy, especially during these challenging times, while we await the gains of the government’s bold reforms and initiatives. Let us renew our patriotism and our commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and more united Nigeria,” it said.

The forum also commended the courage of President Tinubu, and the leadership of the National Assembly, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, for their efforts in national development.

“The collaborative efforts between the executive and legislature and the visionary initiatives have significantly contributed to the progress and prosperity of our country. We wish all Nigerians a blessed and joy-filled Easter celebration”, it added.
