Abuja: Wike promises Kuje residents more projects

FCT minister Nyesom Wike has promised more projects to residents of the Kuje area council.
Mr Wike made the promise in Kuje on Thursday, while addressing stakeholders during a thank-you visit for the positive outcome of the February 21 FCT area council elections.
The pledge followed a request by the council’s chairman-elect, Danjuma Shekwolo, for the minister to consider executing three key road projects.
Mr Wike, who acknowledged the request, promised to meet with the chairman-elect and traditional leaders to decide which projects to begin with.
“Your elected chairman mentioned two or three road projects. Let me tell you, by the time your chairman is sworn in by June, I will call him and the traditional rulers, and we will sit down and agree which one we will begin with.
“I am very interested in Kuje, and because the Kuje people have done it for us, we will do it for you,” he said.
The minister recalled that during a town hall meeting in 2023, residents, through their leaders, appealed for the completion of the Airport Road to Kuje, which the previous administration awarded.
Mr Wike thanked the traditional leaders and the good people of Kuje for speaking loudly during the council elections, adding that President Bola Tinubu directed that such support should not be taken for granted.
He advised Mr Shekwolo not to abandon his people but to always stay with them and seek advice from traditional leaders, women, and the youth, stressing that consultation is very important.
