The Accord Party in Lagos State has presented Certificates of Return to 28 candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony on Friday in Lagos, the state chairman, Dele Oladeji, urged the candidates to remain committed to the party’s ideals and provide credible leadership if elected.

Mr Oladeji, who noted that the candidates emerged through consensus, described the move as part of efforts to strengthen its participation in the forthcoming elections.

He said the event signalled the party’s readiness for a statewide electoral contest.

“Accord Party is fielding candidates for the governorship, the three senatorial districts, 16 House of Representatives seats and eight State House of Assembly constituencies,” Mr Oladeji said.

The governorship candidate, three senatorial district candidates, 16 Federal House of Representatives candidates, and eight House of Assembly candidates were unveiled at the programme.

He called on members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively toward achieving electoral success in the state.

“We believe in social justice, equity, welfare-oriented governance, security and the protection of lives and property. Our focus is on policies that directly improve the well-being of citizens.

“We offer a distinct governance template and a credible alternative.

“Many Lagos residents are seeking a new direction, and Accord Party is prepared to provide responsible and people-focused leadership,” Mr Oladeji said.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Mr Wahab said that Nigeria needed leaders of integrity, accountability and vision who are committed to the welfare of the people.

The Lagos Central senatorial candidate of Accord said, “We joined the race under the Accord Party platform because we believe citizens deserve the true dividends of democracy.

“Our motivation is to serve God, humanity and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Our chances are very bright. The Accord Party has existed for many years and is gaining momentum. Nigerians are demanding accountability and responsible leadership. We believe voters are ready to support a credible alternative.”

He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.

Mr Wahab also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and ensure that every vote counts.

Also speaking, Mrs Maduka-Sunday, the Accord party senatorial candidate for Lagos East, called for increased participation of women in governance and decision-making.

“My priorities include women’s inclusion, youth empowerment, economic opportunities and improved social welfare,” she said.
