A political group, the Adamawa Progressives Elders Council under the leadership of Buba Marwa, has felicitated with the Muslim community on Eid-el-Fitr and urged them to promote unity and peaceful coexistence.

In a statement on Friday, Mr Marwa urged the pursuit of an Adamawa that promotes peace and prosperity.

“We expect every member of the council and indeed every citizen of Adamawa State to live in peace with one another and to embrace a culture of unity, fraternity and the pursuit of an Adamawa State that promotes our common heritage and shared prosperity,” he said.

The group lauded the contributions of stakeholders and party leaders in Adamawa, particularly Nuhu Ribadu, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, and the national vice chairman for the North-East, Mustapha Salihu, among others, to the positive developments in the state and nation in general.

The group, which tasked Muslims to carry on the lessons of piety and charity imbued during Ramadan beyond the fasting period, urged the rededication of Adamawa citizens to the peace, unity and progress of the state.

It also urged members of APC in Adamawa to approach all the political activities coming up within the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable with maturity, understanding and brotherhood for a hitch-free exercise that will ensure peace and unity.

“The goal of the progressive elders council is peace, unity and understanding among all members of the party in the state and, by extension, all citizens of the state,” the group added.
