The Adamawa government, on Wednesday, distributed relief materials to communities in Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) affected by the recent 2025 flood disaster.

Peace Audu, executive chairperson of Fufore LGA, said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the impact of the disaster, which destroyed farmlands and property worth millions of naira.

Speaking at the distribution exercise, Mr Audu expressed gratitude to Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for his intervention and support to the people of Fufore in their time of need.

According to her, the relief package was provided by the State Government through the State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).

“We are grateful to our governor and father, Ahmadu Fintiri, for his continued support to the people of Fufore. Thank you for making it a priority to assist flood victims in our LGA and others across the state,” she said.

She listed the items distributed to include bags of rice, maize, beans, vegetable oil, salt, blankets, mats, detergents and other household essentials.

Mr Audu commiserated with the victims and cautioned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages or building structures on waterways.

She also advised communities in lowland areas to relocate to higher grounds to safeguard lives and property.

The chairperson further urged beneficiaries not to sell the relief items provided to them, stressing that the gesture was meant to bring immediate relief.

Suleiman Mohammed, executive secretary of ADSEMA, who handed over the items, said the distribution in Fufore was part of ongoing interventions across flood-affected LGAs in the state.

He assured the victims that the government remained committed to supporting displaced households and mitigating the humanitarian impact of the disaster.

Aishatu Usman, one of the victims, lauded Mr Fintiri for the intervention and commended Mr Audu for her commitment to the welfare of her constituents.

Flood-affected communities in Fufore include Ribadu, Gurin, Mayoine, Beti and Wurobokki.
