The chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Mohammed Uma, has said that the body is ready to conduct credible elections in the 4,104 polling units in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Mr Uma said this during an interactive session with journalists in Yola on Tuesday.

He said that the non-sensitive materials for the exercise had been distributed across the LGAs, adding that others would be distributed on Thursday, starting with the hard-to-reach areas.

The ADSIEC boss said that 12 political parties would participate in the election, adding that the candidates were screened and confirmed to be qualified.

He said, “We are 100 per cent logistically ready for the election. And we have trained the ad hoc staff to ensure a successful election, and we are relying on voters registered by INEC.’’

Mr Uma further said that the commission, with the support of the police and other security agencies, would ensure the safety and security of voters during and after the exercise.

He debunked the allegation that the commission had already printed the election results, saying “that is not true.”
