ADC says no zoning of governorship ticket in Oyo state

The African Democratic Congress in Oyo state says it will not zone its governorship ticket.
The party’s spokesman, Bimpe Adelowo, disclosed this on Thursday in Ibadan.
Adelowo said the party would be fair to its governorship aspirants to enable the best candidate to emerge.
“Our party is looking at merit, the best and not on this frivolous, sentimental agenda of zoning.
“We want the best for Oyo state, for Nigeria, and for every sector of Nigeria, so wherever that the best can come from, that is our focus,” he said.
Mr Adelowo said that zoning the governorship position to Oke-Ogun would not serve a good purpose if the person who emerged from that zone could not deliver good governance.
He said the party wanted someone who could implement party manifestos, policies, and programmes, and also deliver the dividends of democracy to residents.
He commended residents for their endurance despite challenges under the PDP-led government of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“You can see what happened on the issue of circular roads in the state. That alone is enough to throw Oyo state into chaos, but the people still showed resilience and love for society.
“They didn’t want any violence. Their protest was peaceful. No wanton destruction of any property,” he said.
He urged the people to remain hopeful and to contribute to the process of electing ADC candidates for all positions to represent them in 2027.
