Adeboye condemns #SilhouetteChallenge, asks women to cover their bodies

Enoch Adeboye, the religious leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has condemned the #SilhouetteChallenge that took social media by storm this week.
Mr. Adeboye, whose RCCG is the largest movement of Pentecostals in Nigeria, warned his millions of followers against engaging the videos on social media, saying it “quenches the spirit.”
The pastor gave the warning via a series of tweets on Friday.
“What are the things that the flesh usually tells you to do? They are listed in Galatians 5:19-21. You think that you can view a few pictures or videos on social media where someone is almost nude and it is okay,” the preacher tweeted.
“You are quenching the spirit. That little window you give to indulge the flesh will strengthen it such that you find yourself going back to those pictures/videos after that time. Don’t do anything that will quench the spirit. Never!”
The #SilhouetteChallenge features women posing and dancing in front of doorways bodies under dimly lit red background filters to a snippet of Paul Anka’s “Put your head on my shoulder”, sampled by American artist Doja Cat, in her hit “Streets”.
The social media trend emerged in the last week of January, and the hashtag has amassed almost 100 million views on Twitter and over 146 million views on TikTok as women and men all over the world partake in the fun indoors challenge.
