Adequate welfare, home stability crucial to customs officers’ efficiency, says PTML controller

Controller of the Ports Terminal Multiservices Ltd. (PTML), Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Controller Nura Miko, has said officers’ welfare and stable family support systems remain critical to effective service delivery and operational performance.
Mr Miko said this on Thursday during the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), PTML chapter handover ceremony held at the command headquarters in Lagos.
He said COWA remained a strategic partner in ensuring stability at home, noting that a peaceful family environment enhances officers’ productivity in revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations.
“The most critical role you play is taking care of the home front. A stable home is the foundation of effective service delivery, and for that, we remain grateful,” he said.
The controller commended the immediate past chairperson of the chapter, Ifeoluwa Anani, for what he described as impactful initiatives that strengthened the association during her tenure.
He also congratulated the new chairperson, Nabila Miko, expressing confidence in her capacity to build on existing achievements and advance the objectives of the association.
“I am confident that you will build on the solid foundation laid by your predecessor and take the chapter to greater heights,” he said.
Mr Miko reaffirmed the commitment of the command to supporting COWA activities, saying the association remains a key partner in boosting morale, welfare and family support among officers.
He said the command would continue to provide logistical and institutional support for the association’s programmes, training and outreach activities.
The controller also commended the National President of COWA, Kikelomo Adeniyi, for her leadership in strengthening chapters nationwide and promoting unity and empowerment among members.
He prayed for continued success for the new leadership, expressing optimism that the chapter would record greater achievements under Hajia Nabila Miko.
In her remarks, the new chairperson thanked the COWA national president for her guidance and support, adding that her leadership had been instrumental in the growth of the association.
She also commended the immediate past chairperson for her contributions, pledging to build on her achievements and further strengthen welfare initiatives for officers’ families.
