The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has presented certificates of return to 21 newly elected local government council chairmen and their deputies.

The local government council elections were held on Saturday, June 13.

Speaking at the occasion in Yola on Wednesday, Mohammed Umar, ADSIEC Chairman, congratulated the chairmen-elect on their victory.

“Today marks the successful conclusion of a critical phase in our democratic process.

“It is a day that symbolises the triumph of the people’s will, the strength of our democratic institutions, and our collective commitment to participatory governance at the grassroots level.

“The Certificates of Return being presented today are not merely documents; they represent the trust and confidence reposed in you by the electorate,” he said.

Mr Umar told the chairmen-elect to remember that the certificates were mandates to serve with integrity, accountability, fairness and dedication to the welfare of the people.

He, therefore, urged them to see their victory as a call to selfless service, not self-enrichment.

“The expectations of the people are high, and the challenges before our communities require visionary leadership, inclusiveness, transparency and genuine commitment to sustainable development,” he said.

The chairman commended the electoral officials, security agencies, political parties, observers and all stakeholders whose contributions ensured a peaceful, credible and successful electoral process.

Paul Tumba, Chairman-elect of Michika Local Government Council, appreciated ADSIEC for the successful conduct of the election.

He promised not to disappoint the electorate.
