AFCON Qualifiers: We played “good game” despite loss to 118th-ranked Guinea-Bissau: Peseiro

Jose Peseiro, head coach of the Super Eagles, has insisted that Nigeria played a “good game” despite the shocking defeat at the hands of the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau in their Group A qualifier for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the MKO National Stadium, Abuja, on Friday.
Reacting to the upsetting loss on his verified Twitter account on Friday, Peseiro, who played down threats about his future as the head coach of Nigeria’s national team, said even though it was a bad result, his side played well.
“We are sad and upset with this bad result. But we played a good game, very attacking, and created many goalscoring opportunities that unfortunately we didn’t take. We want to repeat this performance in Guinea, but scoring. We are going with all our commitment and sacrifice to win,” he tweeted on Saturday afternoon.
Mama Balde scored the only goal of yesterday’s game in the 30th minute as 118th FIFA-ranked Guinea-Bissau picked up the massive three points against the three-time Africa champions to move top of the Group A standings with the return leg of the encounter coming up in Bissau on Monday.
The defeat extended Super Eagles’ recent form to four consecutive losses.
