Aguero joins Barca 48 hours after City’s Champions League defeat

Barcelona in a statement on their official website on Monday said Aguero will be joining the club on a free transfer on a two-year deal.

Argentine striker Sergio Aguero has joined Barcelona 48 hours after Manchester City were defeated in the UEFA Champions League. 

The Spanish side unveiled Aguero in a video posted on their official Twitter page on Monday, disclosing the arrival on the prolific goalscorer. 

Aguero, 32, had an impressive 10-year career with City, netting 260 goals in 390 games, winning 15 major trophies with the club and setting record as the club’s all-time record goalscorer. 

Barcelona in a statement on their official website on Monday said Aguero will be joining the club on a free transfer on a two-year deal.

“FC Barcelona and Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club from 1 July when his contract with Manchester City expires. 
“The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season and his buy out clause is set at 100 million euros,” the statement reads. 

City, on Monday also confirmed Aguero’s exit from Etihad, describing him as a player who “has his place in the pantheon of City’s great.”
