AirAsia Cambodia to launch daily domestic services on May 2

AirAsia’s Cambodian unit would launch daily domestic flight operations on May 2, as the low-cost airline aimed to boost air travel in the Southeast Asian country.
It said this in a news reported on Monday.
The news release said the airline will start with three domestic flight destinations: Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville. It will use two A320 aircraft based at Phnom Penh International Airport.
AirAsia Cambodia chief executive officer Vissoth Nam said this would improve connectivity and encourage travellers to stay longer in Cambodia.
“Our vision is to transform the way people travel in Cambodia and make air travel an integral part of the country’s transportation network,’’ he said.
He added that the fares were as low as $49 in one way to amazing domestic destinations.
He said more local and international visitors could afford to experience the wonders of Cambodia by air.
Mr Nam said he believed the airline would contribute to fostering the local economy by providing jobs to locals and supporting tourism development.
