Airpeace begins flight operations in Anambra airport

Local airline Airpeace is set to begin flight operations at the Anambra International Airport on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
This comes as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Thursday, December 2, granted approval for operation of the airport built by outgoing administration of Governor Willie Obiano.
Stanley Olisa, Airpeace spokesman, made the announcement on Saturday, noting flight operations would be available on Tuesday, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“This is great news for the people of Anambra State as we are launching four flights weekly into the new airport on Tuesday,” he said.
“For a start, we shall be operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and as operations gather momentum, we shall increase frequencies to daily flights.”
“By the end of January 2022, we will have commenced the following connections: Anambra-Kano-Anambra, Anambra-Ibadan-Anambra and Anambra-Port Harcourt-Anambra,” he added.
The kick-off of flight in Anambra would come as a relief to South-East’s commercial hub that has, like other states in the region, been plagued with unsafe roads. Before now, flyers coming into Anambra have had to land in airports in neighbouring states such as Asaba, Enugu or Owerri.
Many travellers of South-East origin often travel home during Yuletide, hence Airpeace’s offering comes timely.
