Akeredolu sacks aides, press crew to deputy Gov. Aiyedatiwa

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has sacked the media aides attached to the office of his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Mr Akeredolu, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Richard Olatunde, on Tuesday, said the aides are to submit all government properties in their possession to the acting permanent secretary in the office of the deputy governor.
He listed the affected aides to include the press secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special assistant (New Media) Okunniga Oladipupo; and special assistant (Photography) Abayomi Samson Adefolalu.
“All media aides appointed by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and seconded to the office of the deputy Governor, have been relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.
“Similarly, the Press Crew attached to the office of the deputy governor has been disbanded.
“Consequently, all members of the Press Crew are to report back to their various ministries and stations,” the governor’s statement obtained by Peoples Gazette.
The governor, however, directed the ministry of information and orientation to provide adequate coverage for the activities of the deputy’s governor office henceforth.
The Gazette reports that the development came less than a week after Mr Akeredolu returned to the country from Germany after a three-month medical vacation.
Earlier before his arrival, the cabinet had been polarised with political bickering among the members of the state executive council ahead of the 2024 governorship election.
