Alex Iwobi out of World Cup qualifiers against CAR
Everton striker Alex Iwobi will due to injury miss Nigeria’s next week’s World Cup qualifying game against the Central African Republic (CAR).
The Super Eagles on their official Facebook page on Friday announced that Iwobi who was injured will be replaced by Terem Moffi.
“Forward Terem Moffi has been called up to replace injured Alex Iwobi for the World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic,” the Eagles said.
Moffi, 22, plays as a forward for French side Ligue 1 club FC Lorient.
He had his debut with the Super Eagles in a 1–0 loss to Cameroon on June 4.
Head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, Gernot Rohr, on Thursday unveiled the squad that will challenge CAR’s national team in Lagos and Douala next week.
Before now, the Super Eagles at Mindelo beat hosts Cape Verde 2-1 to maintain the lead in Group C of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
