Although Atiku is from North-East, Tinubu will defeat him: Yahaya

“It does not matter that the PDP presidential candidate is from the North-East. Both Tinubu and Atiku are all my brothers,” he said.

Gombe State governor, Muhammad Yahaya, says the APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning the region in the 2023 general elections are very high.

Mr Yahaya, also the North-East coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation, said this on Saturday in Minna when he visited ex-Nigerian leaders Abdulsalam Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida.

He said the ruling party’s chances were high despite Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, being from Adamawa State in the North-East geopolitical zone.

“Our chances in the North-East are very high indeed. We are strong in our resolve to win the 2023 general elections, and we shall succeed.

“It does not matter that the PDP presidential candidate is from the North-East. Both Tinubu and Atiku are all my brothers,” he said.

He added, “Nigeria is one, and we are struggling to maintain it as a united and indivisible country. It doesn’t matter where they come from, what we need is the best for Nigeria.”

Mr Yahaya said his trip to Minna was to pay a visit to the elder statesmen and check on their health, especially Mr Abdulsalami, who is just recuperating.

Speaking about the state of insecurity across the country, Mr Yahaya said that Gombe had been able to maintain its peace amidst diversity.

This, he said, was because the people had realised their differences early and worked to address them.

“We have tried to maintain peace and understanding in the spirit of nationhood and brotherhood,” Mr Yahaya said.
