Americans condemn Trump’s posting of image depicting him as Jesus Christ

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has faced widespread criticism from Americans following an image depicting him as Jesus Christ.
Mr Trump, on Monday, posted a photo of himself as Jesus Christ, labelling Pope Leo “weak” over his call for peace. In the image shared on Truth Social (post now deleted), Mr Trump is depicted in robes, surrounded by radiant light, appearing to perform a healing, with figures resembling angels around him.
A verified user, @buchananite97, posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, describing Mr Trump’s post as a blasphemous image.
“I’m still going to hold my nose and vote republican in Maine. That being said Trump absolutely deserves to be called depicting himself as Christ and posting that blasphemous image. This goes well beyond disagreeing with the pope’s politics.
“This was a disgusting form of blasphemy against the Christian faith”, his post reads.
Another X user, @JimWilDemocrat’s post reads: NOPE!!!TOO LATE TRUMP!!!! IT’S ALREADY GONE VIRAL AND THE DAMAGE TO YOUR REPUTATION IS IRREPARABLE!!!! Trump takes down Truth Social post of AI image portraying him as Jesus #DonaldTrump #AI #Religion share.newsbreak.com/i3tr4hum
Another verified X user, @austinjames0104, posted that the president’s post was offensive to him.
“It will be interesting to see what the likes of the original poster and other big accounts that claim that they are devout Christians will say about this.
“To me, as a Christian, this is offensive. Trump is obviously making a claim of divinity, if not claiming that he is Christ-like. Everything about this picture, the motif, resembles the artwork and symbols that we associate with Christ, not a mere human being”, he wrote.
Another American user, @realDaniV, said Mr Trump posted a blasphemous picture of himself as Jesus.
“Trump posts a blasphemous picture of himself as Jesus, and of course, swaths of Evangelicals don’t see an issue with their cult leader taking on the mantle of Christ, who Christians believe to be God incarnate on earth”, his post reads.
Another X user, @BYNDmetropolis’ post reads, “It’s very strange that Christians would get offended by Trump’s post. “Christians” have been putting out junk like that for ages. There are no actual images of Christ, you can’t “blaspheme” an “image” of Christ. You can only mock human things that people venerate way too much.”
