Anambra: 10-year-old assault victim under state protection, says official

The Anambra government has confirmed that the 10-year-old boy, who was brutally assaulted by his guardians in Awada, Obosi (Idemili North LGA), is currently receiving medical treatment under state protection.
The state commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, Esther Onyekesi, said this in Awka on Monday.
“I want to thank the good, caring people of Anambra for bringing this case to our notice. The boy is receiving treatment now. My team and the Obosi community woman leader visited him.
“The offenders must face the law for this barbaric act. If you see something, please say something,” she said.
A viral video of the minor was seen on social media with a scalded body, showing injuries on all parts of his body, allegedly inflicted on him by his guardians, a woman and her husband.
Although no reason was given for the maltreatment, a separate video on social media showed some residents of Awada Obosi storming the suspects’ home and scolding them for allegedly torturing the boy.
