Anambra Gubernatorial Election: PDP appeal panel meets Tuesday amid confusion
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted an appeal panel to meet on Tuesday amid the confusion over the emergence of two governorship candidates, following its just-concluded primary for the Anambra governorship election.
According to PDP National Organising Secretary Austin Akobundu, the party’s chairman, Uche Secondus, chairs the panel.
Mr Akobundu disclosed that the panel would consider appeals arising from the PDP Anambra gubernatorial primary.
He added that the PDP National Working Committee also approved Umaru Tsauri as member and secretary of the panel.
Members of the panel are Yemi Akinwonmi, Sulaiman Nazif, Mr Akobundu, Agbo Emmanuel, Abdullahi Maibasira, Adewale Aribisala, Kola Ologbondiyan, Hajiya Maryam Waziri, Udeh Okoye, Emmanuel Enoidem, Mai Adamu Mustaphaa. Taofik Arapaja, and Theophilus Shan.
Others include Dan Orbih, Emmanuel Bovoa, Ali Odefa, Aminu Abdullahi, Sule Lamido, Adamu Maina Waziri, David Mark, Onyema Ugochukwu, Erelu Olusola Obada and Emmanuel Ibokessien.
Mr Akobundu explained that the panel would meet on June 29 at the Wadata Plaza, Abuja, at 1:00 p.m.
There was confusion in Anambra over the conduct of the primary as two PDP factions held separate elections. Ugochukwu Uba and Valentine Ozigbo were elected to represent the party in the November 6 contest.
While Mr Uba was elected candidate of the faction led by Chukwudi Imeaba, Mr Ozigbo was elected by another faction.
