AnambraDecides: Group requests deployment of ex-Imo police commissioner
A group, Anambra United, on Wednesday made a request of the Inspector-General of Police to deploy CP Abutu Yaro to Anambra as a guarantee to tackle insecurity.
“With Yaro as CP in Anambra, police will easily weed out hoodlums terrorising the state,’’ President-General of the group, Kenneth Ibe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri.
Anambra came under serious attacks by gunmen in recent times with hoodlums attacking the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship campaign rally on Tuesday.
Mr Ibe stressed that Mr Yaro had the capacity to check insecurity in Anambra.
“The IGP should as a matter of urgency, redeploy CP Yaro to Anambra before the November governorship election, because we all saw how he checked insecurity in other states where he served.
“Yaro is a lion in the field of operation. We need him to replicate the feat he achieved in Imo and in other states.
Mr Yaro was redeployed to Imo from Zamfara in May after gunmen attacked Imo Police Command and the Correctional Centre in Owerri.
He was later redeployed to Abuja after dislodging many camps allegedly belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
