Another teenager drowns in Kano

A 15-year-old Halifa Abdulmumini has drowned in Kano, the state Fire Service confirmed on Friday, in yet another drowning saga in the ancient city.
Abdulmumini from Dutsu Village in Gaya Local Government Area of the state, was brought out of water dead after the emergency responders got a distress call from the community.
Saminu Abdullahi, spokesman for the fire service, said in a statement in Kano that it received a distress call on the incident at 1:42 p.m.
He stated that by 2:10 p.m. when fire officers got to the scene, Abdulmumini had been brought out of the water dead.
He added that his corpse had been handed over to the ward head of Dutsu village.
Mr Abdullahi also stated that the actual cause of the drowning was under investigation.
Cases of young men drowning in Kano has been rife of recent.
In June, a 16-year-old Muhammad Ghali of Gwale Local Government Area died in water, the fire service reported.
Similarly, another 20-year-old man, Yusuf Aliyu, reportedly drowned in open water at Danbare, Layin Bakar Lamba area of Kano in July.
