APC will hold national convention on Saturday: Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa, Umar Mustapha, has assured that the party will conduct a successful and acceptable national convention on Saturday.
Mr Mustapha, popularly known as “Otunba of Ekiti” and Muqaddas of Adamawa Emirate”, gave the assurance while fielding questions from journalists on Sunday in Yola.
The chieftain said that the forthcoming national event of the party would be hugely successful under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He noted, “all political parties have their own strategies when it comes to conventions and the APC strategy is to keep quiet until the time comes.
”The party at the national level has a competent and reliable leadership that would be able to conduct a successful and acceptable convention.
“The APC, as a strong ruling party in Nigeria, has competent and political intellectuals that can within one week reach its Zenith.
“Don’t forget that the leader of the APC is a retired General and Generals are known to be strategists, even in war situations.
“In this case, I’m assuring you, our leader, a former General, has already strategised for a successful, transparent and accountable national convention of our great party,” Mr Mustapha said.
Mr Mustapha said that all those who are not wishing the party well and trying to plant seeds of discord between its members, would be put to shame.
He called on members of the party to unite for the victory of the convention and the 2023 general elections.
On his ambition to contest for the Adamawa Governorship election in 2023, Mr Mustapha said that he is well prepared to clinch the seat in 2023.”
Controversy and apprehension continue to trail the APC national convention billed for February 26. Until now, sale of form for aspirants to national offices has not been announced even as not committee has been set up to handle activities for the event.
