Ex-Zamfara Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Kabiru Sahabi-Liman, during the administration of Abdul’aziz Yari, has joined Governor Bello Matawalle’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Monday by the APC publicity secretary in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris.

Mr Idris quoted the former commissioner saying that he joined Mr Matawalle’s faction because a political tsunami was quickly consuming Mr Yari’s political camp.

The former commissioner said given the dwindling political fortunes of his former boss, he had no choice but to dump him and join the “growing political train of Matawalle’.”

“Sahabi-Liman was a senatorial aspirant in the 2019 general election under Yari’s camp. The former commissioner announced his decision to dump his former boss when he paid a solidarity visit to the state APC chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, at the party Secretariat,” said the statement.

According to the statement, the former commissioner decided to join Mr Matawalle’s faction because of the governor’s efforts towards the development of the state.

He said the APC chairman Tukur Danfulani while receiving the former commissioner, commended him for making the “bold and right decision.”

He quoted Mr Danfulani as saying APC, under Mr Matawalle’s leadership, had “rebranded” and accommodated all party members irrespective of their social standing.
