APGA issues timetable for 2026 Anambra LG primaries

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has released its provisional timetable for the 2026 Anambra local government primary elections.
In a statement on Thursday by its national publicity secretary, Ejimofor Opara, the party said the timetable was approved in line with APGA’s constitution and the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission schedule.
The schedule said the sale and return of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will take place at its Awka Regional Secretariat from January 27 to February 6.
It added that screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants will be held from February 7 to February 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
According to the schedule, appeals from the screening exercise will be resolved on February 13, and ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad hoc delegates are scheduled for February 14.
“The chairmanship primary election will be held on February 15, while appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on February 16, all in Awka,” it stated.
APGA fixed the cost of chairmanship forms at N6 million and councillorship forms at N600,000.00, noting that female aspirants and persons with disabilities would pay 50 per cent of the fees.
The party added that all payments were non-refundable and that dates remained subject to change.
It also urged intending aspirants to strictly comply with the stipulated guidelines and its electoral regulations.
