Arabic teacher remanded in Lagos for allegedly sodomising 11-year-old pupil

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 28-year-old teacher, Mohammed Algoni, to Kirikiri Correctional centre for allegedly sexually molesting his 11-year-old pupil.
Chief Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi refused to listen to the defendant’s plea, and ordered him to be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional centre until September 28, for the Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.
The defendant, who resides at 29, Akinwunmi St., Ifako Gbagada, Lagos, is tried for sodomy.
The Prosecutor, Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed in June at Ifako, Lagos, and contravened section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Mr Akeem said that after the victim, an 11-year-old boy, who is in an Arabic boarding school, came home for Sallah break, he told his mother that he wasn’t going back to the school again.
Mr Akeem also said that the victim told his mother how the defendant, who is one of his teachers, has been sexually penetrating through his anus.
The prosecutor said that the offence was reported at the police station and the defendant was arrested.
