Two night guards in Ikare Akoko, Akoko NorthEast Local Council Area of Ondo were on Saturday found dead in the pool of their blood with some parts of their bodies severed, Peoples Gazette learnt.

The Gazette gathered that the deceased are guards securing a local market identified as ‘Mimiko Markets’ and NASFAT School, both in the local community.

A source, Omolayo Ajayi, who resides in the community told The Gazette that the two men were probably attacked at midnight following the condition in which their bodies were found.

Ms Ajayi said that the bodies of the security guards were also dismembered by the assailants in a most gruesome and scary manner.

“They cut off the head of one of the guards and placed it right beside his body,” She said.

Ms Ajayi, who operates a store near the market, explained that the attack raised suspicion of a ‘ritual killings’, adding that the body was mutilated.

“Even, the gunmen cut off the hand of the other guard and also placed it beside his corpse and they also dismembered all other parts too. It’s just scary.”

According to her, policemen at the Ikare Akoko Division visited the scene and took the corpses away to the morgue.

She added that locals, staying close to the area, are already living in palpable fear following the shocking discovery of the corpses.

Contacted by The Gazette on Saturday night, the Ondo police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the crime incident.

“We have already commenced our investigation on the crime,” Ms Odunlami said.

She added that detectives are on the trail of the criminals who perpetrated the crime.

“So, we want to assure locals in the community that there is nothing to fear about because our men have already placed surveillance around,” she said.
