The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology chapter in Okitipupa, Ondo state, has embarked on an indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the 2025 federal government-ASUU agreement by the state government.

Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, the chapter’s ASUU chairman, said on Wednesday in Okitipupa that the industrial action was a result of the state government’s failure to implement the 2025 federal government-ASUU agreement.

He said the industrial action is total, comprehensive and indefinite until the state government implements the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement, including 40 per cent of the Current Consolidated Salary Scale, Earned Academic Allowance, and Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance.

“Others are professorial allowance, responsibility allowance, and supervision allowance, as well as other non-monetary components of the agreement. In spite of the state being an oil-producing one, the government of the day is not responsive to educational development,” he added.

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), another state-owned institution, began its indefinite strike on Tuesday, based on the same non-implementation of the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement by the state government.
