Atiku condemns rising terror attacks, calls for urgent action

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the continued terror attacks and brigandage across Nigeria, describing them as a serious threat to the nation’s peace, unity, and stability.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle on Saturday, Mr Abubakar said such attacks on innocent citizens are a grave affront to the country’s shared humanity and must never be allowed to define who Nigerians are as a people.
Mr Abubakar expressed condolences to the families who suffered losses in terror attacks, adding that he stood in solidarity with affected communities during this difficult time.
“The foremost responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. It is therefore imperative that renewed urgency, coordination, and resolve be brought to bear in confronting this challenge and restoring public confidence,” Mr Abubakar said.
He added, “I also acknowledge, with appreciation, the continued support of the President and Government of the United States of America in the global fight against terrorism.”
He further stated that the cooperation underscores the importance of sustained international partnership in addressing threats to peace and security.
