Auckland is alive with cultural energy this August, with Auckland Live, one of the nation’s largest performing arts platforms and a division of Auckland Council.

It will unveil a dynamic programme of events across the city.

With music, dance, theatre, and film taking over iconic venues, residents and visitors in Auckland are embracing what has become one of the most anticipated annual celebrations on the city’s cultural calendar.

Among the offerings is the New Zealand International Film Festival, currently lighting up the historic Civic Theatre.

Running until August 10, the festival presents a diverse range of films from around the world to Auckland audiences, encompassing dramas, documentaries, animated features, and experimental shorts.

Meanwhile, live theatre lovers are heading to the Bruce Mason Centre for Broadway musicals and productions running through August 9.

Dance takes the spotlight with the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s collaborative performance exploring themes of identity, belonging, and landscape.

Music lovers can enjoy a wide range of classical music from local performing arts organisations such as NZTrio, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

The Ballet International Gala will also bring world-class ballet to Auckland for the first time.

Dancers from the Royal Ballet, Berlin State Ballet, Mariinsky Theatre, and others will perform timeless and contemporary pieces at The Civic.

This will make the event one of the most prestigious of its kind ever held in New Zealand.

Beyond the stage and screen, Aucklanders will have the chance to step into the spotlight themselves.

New Zealand Fashion Week returns from August 25 to 30, showcasing leading and emerging designers and inviting the public to experience New Zealand fashion through shows, panels, installations, and more.
